How My Services Can Help!

When you're struggling with depression, it often feels like you've lost yourself somewhere along the way. In our work together, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you reconnect with what matters most. Rather than fighting against your difficult thoughts and emotions, we'll create space for them while gently moving you toward meaningful action. I'll guide you in developing mindfulness skills to observe depressive thoughts without getting caught in their grip, helping you see that "I am worthless" is just a thought - not a fact about who you are.

We'll focus on rebuilding your life in sustainable ways, starting with small steps that align with your values. Many clients find that as we work through the physical and emotional weight of depression, they begin to regain energy, sleep better, and rediscover activities that once brought them joy. What makes this approach different is that we don't just treat symptoms - we help you reconstruct a life worth living, even when depression tries to convince you otherwise.

Benefits of Depression Therapy

The journey through depression therapy often begins with small but meaningful changes. You might notice moments where the heaviness lifts slightly, or find it easier to complete daily tasks that once felt impossible. As we continue our work, these small shifts build into more significant transformation - improved sleep patterns, renewed energy, and a growing ability to manage negative thoughts without being overwhelmed by them.

Over time, the therapy process helps cultivate something more profound than just symptom relief. You'll develop a new relationship with yourself - one built on self-compassion rather than shame. Many clients describe rediscovering parts of themselves they thought were lost forever, and rebuilding connections with people and activities that matter most. While depression may try to tell you otherwise, healing is possible. Together, we'll work toward the day when hope feels real again, and the life you want feels within reach.

Isn’t depression just being sad?

Yes and no! Sadness can definitely be part of the equation, but is not always a feature. Furthermore, sadness is a normal human emotion that can be an appropriate reaction to an event. Depression is when it persists beyond normal sadness and begins to impact other parts of yourself and life nearly every day for more than two weeks(and can go on for years continuously or in cycles).

Nothing bad has ever happened to me. Can I still be depressed?

Bad things in life don't have to occur for you to have a depressed mood. Sometimes factors like genetics, medical conditions, or even simply the way you perceive or think about things can make a person more susceptible to depression.

Will therapy for sure fix my depression?

Simply showing up to therapy is only a piece of the puzzle to overcoming depression symptoms as following through with any strategies, intervention, or goals is such a crucial element to making therapy work for you and even beyond. As your therapist, I can be a pillar of support in helping you stay consistent and being a voice that combats any judgments or criticisms you may have for yourself when you struggle with making changes that you know can benefit you along with pointing out patterns that may be perpetuating your symptoms.
